Got two Pomelos from Fairprice this year! I love pomelos!! It’s like orange without the acidity and a bit of that addictive bitterness I like! If you’re having a shitty day, I guarantee that a wedge of cold pomelo will change your mood! And talk about shit…. it eases constipation!!

Mini Cheese Mooncakes, Dragon Phoenix Restaurant

This was the first mooncake I had this year! You know my love for cheese… I can eat eat with anything! Bread / pasta / cakes / rice / soup (brocolli & cheese soup, ever tried??). I even eat BRead with nutella and cheese / jam and cheese! Damn shiok, don’t know why…

This cheese mooncake isn’t so much a mooncake to me, more like a pastry! The pastry is cheesy but inside is really just lotus paste, and a bit of salted egg yoke.

Peony Jade’s Organic snowskin Durian Mooncake

This one’s definitely the best snowskin I had this year! Strangely, I do not find the Goodwood park one as nice anymore… the durian filling tastes weird. The Peony Jade one has a very satisfying filling that is not too sweet/overpowering. And the skin?

I never really bothered to find out which part of it is ‘organic’, but I think that it should be the skin, because the taste and texture is really very different from other snowskins! If you’re a snowskin ‘connoisseur’ like me, you would able to taste the difference of this snowskin. It isn’t too annoyingly soft/bouncy to the chew… but a little ‘paste-ty’. Also, it holds the durian filling very well, and does not go too soft even when you have defrosted it for a while. The overall feeling when you eat it – it makes you feel like having more! And look at the color combi! It isn’t the typical mint green snow skin color but the durian husk green lookalike! But I guess, the overall experience is enhanced knowing that you are eating an ‘organic’ mooncake… but… how organic can it be right? hahahaha!

Tong Heng’s 金华火腿

To digress abit, you can see that I love using kitchen towels. They’re just more fantastic than tissue… hahaha. I love to put my snacks on kitchen towels, so I can save washing those plates, and I feel quite guilty about it because it is totally not environmental friendly!

I dare say that this is the best 金华火腿 I have ever eaten. The filling is so generous and they have the winter melon sweet inside! Salty, sweet, nutty… that’s the beauty of this old skool flavor mooncake! One quarter of it is enough to fill you up (warning, it fills you up 5 mins after eating, so never gorge too much in one serving!). I love to eat mine slowly with a nice cup of Oolong tea! Ahhhh! What enjoyment!

This year, I was so bent on buying the Raffles champagne truffle mooncakes because I had such an immense craving! I actually went down to Raffles Hotel and stood there to look for 15 minutes, but, I left empty handed! This year, they are $60.00 for a box of 8 mini! Not sure why at that point of time, I could not convince myself to part with the $60. I was also told that they need to be consumed within 5 days. I guess I was worried that I would only have craving for one (you know how you can’t eat so much sweet stuff or risk feeling sick), so I figured that it was not a wise thing to buy afterall! I then landed at Raffles City and bought a box of my usual Ritz Carlton Green Tea mooncakes, which were only $30++ after discount! Oh did I mention, there was no discount for the Raffles one?

Last but not least, ZQ’s friend gave him a box of 4 large snowskin assorted flavor mooncakes from Goodwood Park, and they are still sitting in the freezer! That is the problem when there are only two persons at home! And no thanks to the fact that we were both too sick to eat these ‘heaty stuff’ last two weeks.

So… in the midst of the madness… there’s at least something nice to perk me up. Granny’s getting discharged tomorrow… hope that everything will go smoothly and they stay well and happy!

After Harajukku, we also visited Meiji Jingu (Meiji Shrine), one of our intended stops, which was around the corner. Thinking that it was so near, we were walking in happily and snapping photos…

We walked, and walked, and walked, and walked! It was a DAMN long walk just to get into the temple!!! And the path was just small stones and it’s a little tiring to walk on those. Finally, after 15 mins of walk, we officially went into the temple, but there was announcement that it was closely! OMG… I think it was around 5 pm when we reach and it was closing in 15mins time or something. And so, we quickly explored the temple…

When night fell, we moved on to Shibuya.

What a crazy happening place it is and super duper packed! We read before our trip, that it’s like ‘City Hall’ in Singapore… and the Hachiko statue is a popular landmark and meeting point for the Japanese! Shibuya is also one of Tokyo’s busiest railway stations.

We stopped by at Shibuya 109, home to the girls of the popular ‘Gyaru’ fashion (think, long blonde hair, pale lips, atrociously large dolly eyes, tanned skin…) and here you see ZQ with a non-gyaru.. haha, she’s just a promoter for the Panasonic hair curler.

And then, it’s dinner time again! We landed at another of those 100yen 回転寿司 shops. I noticed that we are really ‘confused’ in Singapore, where we have so many different types of fillings for sushi. In Japan, you will mostly only see the simple salmon and tuna cuts and hardly any ‘mayo-ed’ stuff! I guess the focus here for sushi is FRESHNESS!

Every sushi meal, though a norm and simple fare for most locals, is a delicious and memorable feast for me and ZQ.

After dinner, we took a leisure walk around, and saw many crazy miscellaneous stores. This one caught our attention. They had so many cute pyjamas!

A grown-up ‘Piglet’ promoter. BTW, I was holding the cute foil balloons the Panasonic girl gave me!

And do you think this shop just sells pyjamas and some stuffed toys? You’re wrong. When we went in, they had everything from edible to usable to playable and displayable!!! Here, ZQ checks out some Gundam plastic kits they have. This shop also has food stuff and cosmetics! It’s like Daiso + WWatsons + Dept store. I just can’t describe man.

When we walked out, we were greeted by this Wolverine wannabe who said bye to us. Hehe.

Walked on, and saw L’Occitane Cafe!!! I was squealing in mad excitement!!! But we were too full from dinner to go there straight, so ZQ promised that we would detour after an hour or two!

Pretty blossoms!! Not fake mind you!! But in that sort of weather, you can easily grow the prettiest of flowers!!

Baumkuchen cake from Club Harie, as recommended by Irene! We bought it from the basement of this dept store called ‘Hankyu’, reminds me very much of the old Daimaru!!! And the best part is, there is still Daimaru in Japan!!! Reminds me so much of my Dad, he used to love to bring us there.

Welcome to Harajukku!!! BTW, the station announcement says (with a very cute bright and cheery and high pitched lady voice) “HARAJOOOOO KOOOOOOOO”. The “Ku” dragged very long! Really cute and left an impression in me till now!

I had really high hopes on this place, being extremely excited to see the ‘extreme’ cosplay / weird dress ups! But, this was ALL that greeted me and I was sooooo disappointed!!!

Tamagotchi in da house!!! This is one time you can say TAMA but not in a bad (Tamade) way!!!

We then went to the famous 7 storey Daiso in Harajukku. Boy was I shocked from the size of that Daiso!!! It’s one level for one category of stuff, like what you’re seeing, the basement is entirely FOOD STUFF!!!!! their Daiso, also known as the major 100yen shop, sells everything (any anything beyond your imagination)

After an hour, we were back in the open! Crowds everywhere, cute shops selling all sorts of cute and fashionable items!!!

and we found the famous Marion Crepes!!!!!! This is the most famous crepe shop ever, and anyone who goes to Harajukku must taste it! You gotta queue just to get one but that’s okay, since they have so many flavors you really need some time to decide! It’s next to another crepe shop which has no crowd at all.

Everyone stood around to eat their prized crepes, and so, we joined them. We also got a neighbour to help snap our photo =)

We got a sakura ice-cream mochi crepe, with red bean! I was so worried that the sakura ice-cream would be too flowery and yucky, but it proved me wrong… the taste was simply divine!!! We chose it as it was a limited edition flavor, for the upcoming sakura season.

I can still remember the softness of the warm crepe, the smoothness of the ice-cream, the heavenly combination. I have never ever eaten such a delicious crepe. Even the one that claims to be ‘orginal’ in Singapore is totally CMI. And since it was so cold, the ice-cream didn’t melt at all – you can see that from the picture!

Found Kiddyland towards the end of the road of Harajukku; this is a major toy chain in Japan! It has EVERYTHING!!!

And more! They also had many characters – Hello Kitty, Ponyo, Rilakkuma, One Piece, Cubic Mouth, Disney characters, Gundam etc etc etc. I remember that it has around 4-5 floors. Those were the only two photos I took because I could not wait to comb the whole store!! We left with a happy purchase!!!

A pretty neat Anna Sui boutique! Definitely much more assortment than what we have in SG! And I was using the Anna Sui tote I bought there! Haha, and I was in my purple lacy tights. LOL.

Harajukku is truly sneakers paradise! I didn’t manage to snap pictures on the streets (those crowded shops) because I was so afraid that my camera would drop and break in the super crowd!!

After landing in Tokyo just for Disneyland on our first then, we came back for a proper tour on our 5th day in Japan. Very tired, yes we were, from the cold, but also extremely excited to explore Tokyo!

It was a childhood thing to visit Japan – experience the culture, the people (the pretty girls, for ZQ), the food, the city charm. And we got more than what we asked for. If not for the unfortunate devastating earthquake a few months ago, you’d definitely see me urging everyone else to visit Japan and possibly, planning my next trip. I really hope that the whole thing clears up so I can really really plan my next trip there. ZQ says that we shall have kids first before going… he thinks that any ‘selfish’ act of ours is going to affect our future children’s health… oh well…

A sandwich I tapao-ed from Osaka station before getting onto the train to Tokyo!!! I wanted to ‘hold’ a part of Osaka with me… was already missing it then. This is how charming that place is… And me.. I can never sleep on planes, trains etc, unlike ZQ, who can knock out immediately. Hence, I like to occupy my travel time with magazines, books, papers and food!!! Not forgetting taking photos of scenery on the way. I can’t imagine if I have to take a plane to Europe or States next time. I don’t know how I will react in the plane.

So pretty right?? The porky missed it since he was sleeping! I think I tapped him awake but in his blurry state, he acknowledged my tap and supposedly saw the mountain. I think maybe only 50% registered in his brain…

Few hours later (train ride, struggle with various subway lines and maps), we found the correct way to our hotel, which is in west Shinjuku. FYI, accomodation in Tokyo is quite ex, except for Shinjuku area, but it’s quite a ‘party’ area… which, according to the hotel staff, is near the nightlife and entertainment district. To be honest, having lived there for 4 days, we felt quite safe. Somehow, the Japanese are only interested in Japanese! Unlike in BKK or even SG, where you might be ‘disturbed’ you when you pass by, etc. If you keep a low profile and mind your own business, there really isn’t much of an issue staying in that area.

Our hotel, Sunroute Higashi Shinjuku! Sunroute is a huge hotel chain in Japan, check it out here. Not as shiok as our Osaka apartment.. but decent enough for a short stay. Somehow, it seemed like a good idea to stay in a tiny room with the crazy weather because it was very cosy!

What you see is what we got! An extremely tiny room, taken up mostly by the bed (which is slightly smaller than a queen bed). Basically, the only space to move about was an ‘L’ shaped space around the bed. There was a desk in front of the bed for the TV and miscellaneous stuff like coffee maker etc. I must say this room is only for sleeping!!! Plus, our luggages and backpacks took up space from the already tiny L shaped area!

A very delicious choice – cheesy hamburger curry rice! that was our early dinner, on the day we arrived in Tokyo.

After dinner, we walked around (with no destination in mind, just wanted to relax), and again, walked into a random convenience store

Rila breads! WTH right… they looked so cute that I wanted to grab one, but figured I would have no space and the thing would end up being expired. Because in Japan, we were eating main meals and snacking! There is just so much to try and not enough (stomach) room.

A seriously HUGEASS H & M!! You won’t believe it, I did not even buy one single piece of clothing throughout my entire trip, despite walking into all the large boutiques. I guess, I was too cold to think of stripping in any fitting room. Furthermore, me and ZQ had the ‘agreement’ of going on a toys spree so that was what we spent our monies on! For once, we enjoyed the trip very much since it was not a one sided thing of me shopping for woman clothes and leaving ZQ to wait and wait for hours, but a shared joy of both of us when we admired and bought toys! I have never enjoyed it so much in my life, and strangely, with someone of a different gender. We’ve learnt to admire both the boy and girl toys, haha. Now, (as we both go deeper into our addiction for toys), I can understand why toy / junk collectors look quite sloppy / underdressed. They just don’t bother to shop anymore. I need to remind myself to NOT go that direction…

Takashimaya! Like the ‘original’! Standards definitely much higher in Japan. And the Rose Chan doll, naked!!! I think we have one pair in our Taka in SIN but fully clothed… lol. Talk about standards, the Taka food hall in Japan, and all the other food halls in other malls are just SUPERB!! The range of cakes and gifts is just so fabulous, that you feel like buying everything to try.

Tokyu Hands! This is like Daiso + Art Friend + a departmental store. Very cool place… selling craft stuffs, toys, and miscellaneous items. It’s apparently quite big in Japan.

5 years ago on 15/7, the same porky held my hair and grinned from ear to ear (till this day I can still remember his expression), as we strolled down Orchard Road. Though many things have changed throughout these 5 years (including our thinning hair), I do hope that the love between us strengthens and that we would have much more sweet anniversaries to come. For us, as usual, no fancy dinners or gifts, just a nice, down to earth Japanese dinner at Iciban Boshi and a sweet cup of bubble tea/Starbucks afterwards to do the trick! And, I love that it’s a Friday today!

The only (good) thing for relationships is how you always have a choice. Unlike your family, who you have blood ties with that you can not undo, you really do have a choice on who your lifetime partner will be. You were both never related from the start, and there will never be the same kind of responsibility like that of a kin.

After all my busy weekend activities, I had the whole Sunday afternoon to myself at home and had a lot of thoughts going through my mind as I did some housechores and cooking.

If you ever think it is easy for the immediate family or friends when faced with a broken relationship, it truly isn’t! This whole incident bothered me for a good whole week because I was filled with strange mixed emotions, as a good or closer friend of the girl. It is almost as if I want true happiness for the her, but need to be protective of her; of the potential hurdles and pain that might come along with the new found happiness. At the same time, I wish for no pain for the guy. If only the entire incident was free of pain in anyone else’s shoes, but, this was if only…

It seemed senseless to feel so much for something I have no control over, something, I simply should not even be too bothered about. But, I did. Whatever happens, I only wish for the best for the both of them and I hope things just work out. If you believe in fate, maybe, just maybe… some people will ever cross your path to help you along the way, but not neccessarily end up being your life partner. I truly believe that if they are meant to be, they will, no matter what, be together again. But only time will tell… truly…

(ii) I’m not usually into anything too outrageously religious but I do believe in a higher up-above. I wanted so badly to revenge on someone, as well as for others who have received the same very underdeserving treatment. Have you ever felt this same kind of wrath and want revenge so badly? My imagination runs wild with all the things I want to do on the nasty person but the possible implications of my actions stop me, the anger disperses over time and I end up dropping the whole thing (what a loser?).

Went on Google to search ‘how to take revenge’ and found some articles, with a few excerpts catching my attention:

“If you feel a need for revenge, tell God about it. Tell Him what you’d like to see done to that person, then defer the whole matter to Him, to do what He sees is fit. It sounds like foolishness, but it works.”

“Scientists have discovered that retribution often leads to even more acts of violence.”

“Those who have felt intense feelings of revenge have found that forgiveness is the only way to end the feelings. It is a way to avoid engaging in retribution.”

As the saying goes: “冤冤相报何时了”… a revenge will be dispersed with another revenge and it will be a vicious cycle that ends in misery…

Having said that, I am going to curse that guy with 10 things… I think it is a very light sentence for him after all that he has said and done! The rest, I will leave up to God and I do believe in Karma. I am going to call him LJB (Lan Jiao Bin – according to fellow colleagues, he is a 斯文败类, actually good looking and well groomed but downright UGLY inside.

(1) I hope LJB gets stuck in a BAD situation at work where he has no choice but to be maligned and also have to bow down and suck up worse than a dog, if not he will lose his high paying job.

(2) I hope LJB finishes his lunch one day only to discover that there are a few strands of pubic hair (those obviously are pubic hair kinda curly strands) inside the plate/bowl.

(3) And of cos, based on LJB’s character, he will bring the plate to the stall and scream and shout, and I hope that when he does that, the cook/server will tell him, that what he ordered is ‘PUBIC Fried Rice‘ or something, in order to match his filthy mouth. and I hope that the person telling that to him is a PRC / Philipino with very bad English.

(4) I hope that LJB will be fucked by a cassonova GAY, or maybe, he is already fucked by one. So I hope that he will be fucked until his ass cracks open and he will take MC exceeding his company’s MC limit, and it will be unpaid. Look I didn’t curse that he will get HIV lor still give him some pity though he doesn’t deserve it!

(5) I hope that LJB gets slapped in the street mistakenly by a mad woman, who mistakes him for being her husband’s gay partner. And I hope he gets slightly scratched on the face, because of her long nails. And I hope he did not return a slap because she is so exceedingly beautiful and sexy, and he cannot bring himself to slap her back.

(6) I hope LJB ridiculously drops his LV wallet, iPhone 4, Bvlgari ring and Bottega bracelet into a toilet bowl full of his own SHIT and has to fish them out one by one, and 80% of each item is already smeared with shit. Talk about, clearing your own SHIT.

(7) I hope LJB opens a bottle of wine / champagne and the spirit squirts out right onto his face smearing all his BB Cream. Damn this sounds too mild for him. I would to change it to him having his partner shoving the same bottle of champagne up his ass.

(8) I hope LJB is told by the love of his life (the kind he would do anything to impress), how she (or he) is disgusted by his petty and mean ways with people around him and how he or she is TOTALLY calling him a ‘LJB’ from then on. This kinda thing hurts the most when it comes out from your loved on. If you have any, moron.

(9) I hope LJB goes to the ATM to draw S$2,000.00, but runs for a cab and drops all the $$$ on the way, and a person who needs the money very badly finds the $$$ (ignoring the parts about how the money can be gotten back by tracing digits / through the bank etc etc.). LJB will only notice this halfway through his journey and is on the expressway, he starts cursing and demanding for the innocent cab driver to turn back, and cab driver pokes him eyeballs and tells him to SHUT THE FUCK UP. Cab driver will then proceed to blast cheena 70s wayang music and fart in his car, and then burp an awful smell of durian and garlics.

(10) Last but not least, I hope (but I strongly believe already many others are practising this) that LJB is being  known as LJB COUNTRYWIDE, and soon, WORLDWIDE, of his notorious ways and when he is sacked from his current job he cannot even get a job as a toilet supervisor. And his next visit to any toilet, he will get stares and gossips from others – “eh, this is the LJB who didn’t even make it for round 1 interview of toilet sup”.　　　

Think about it… how good is your life when SO MANY people everywhere are calling you Lan Jiao Bin behind your back!!!!!

I feel so much better already!!!!!!!!!! And of course, knowing that 这种人，天一定会收他, so, we shall wait and see…

1. Where can you be found in Singapore the most throughout this week?
A: The horrifying thing is that I actually still went to Orchard on Saturday! It was a bad move, I ended up feeling extremely bored… I guess I’m really sick of town. I do need to make a point to get some ‘heritage air’ on the weekends and skip town unless absolutely neccessary…

2. Who are the 3 most cherished persons in your heart now?
A: I ask myself stupid questions like this from time to time, and I actually find it so hard to have a definite answer. It would definitely be my family, but there are so many of them, and I would rather die than choose because deep down, I love and cherish all of them very much… To say my 3 ‘most’ would be impossible…

3. The best experience you have had this week?
A: I had a local makan session at chomp Chomp with my colleagues! Everyone enjoyed it tremendously… we had someone from Japan, M’sia, Taiwan and a new colleague from Macau!! Not forgetting me and my other colleague from SG, a cheena pai me and a super ang mo pai her. It was a fun mix that night! And after the meal, I went to catch transformers with my hubby and our friends. Fell asleep twice thru out the movie!!! OMG, but I do find this sequal kinda shitty.

4. The tastiest thing you have eaten this week?
A: Fancy delight egg tarts!! So accessible now since there’s one in ION! So contradicting when I was just complaining about town.

5. The ‘hobbiest’ things done this week?
Aside from practising the piano, if we’re talking about toys, then none! I’ve been going out and when I’m home, had to keep up with the housework and my piano! Rest of the time is dedicated to my BED! gosh how I hope for more hours in a day!!

6. What’s interesting coming up next week?
A: It’s me and ZQ’s 5-year anni (dating anni!) on 15/7. Time flies! 5 years is neither long nor short but no matter the number of years, it is a unique and special experience for every couple. I won’t say that we’ve been through really alot, thank up above for this union, and I truly hope that no matter what happens in the future we would be there for one another. This anniversary, we might be doing a good old Iciban Boshi and bubble tea!!! Always very worried about new food places that might cause a bomb yet not satisfy our taste buds, so I would rather eat something affordable and safe.

A:
- Housework in the morning
- 5hrs at the bridal studio with Bro, Mum, Kathy & her parents
- Discussion over dinner for bro’s wedding (slurpalicious food!)
- NTUC fruits shopping!

As you can see, we spent most of the day at the bridal studio! It was quite fun, getting a glimpse of the outfits of your sib’s big day! I’m still figuring out what I should wear for the big day…
